Adventure Pack
Roger Roger was over-enthused when he first went off the leash today. He jumped around the pack, barking and nudging them to try to elicit some response. He was especially interested in getting Rucksack or Sputnik's attentions. It was good practice for Sputnik to hold back from reacting despite the harassment and he did a very good job of keeping calm while I addressed his rambunctious packmate. Meanwhile, Oliver was exploring the trail ahea...

Adventure Pack
The wind has finally settled down and we had a nice hike today. Mamacita was surprised by a couple joggers who came up behind us and she gave a sharp growl when she noticed them, but then we moved to the side to let them pass and she got over it quickly. Thompson was busy sniffing along the side of the trail. Milo joined in his investigations here and there along the way. Rucksack and Thompson both needed to practice stopping with me instead...

Adventure Pack
Oliver and Benny got some practice in coming to me when called while off leash with distractions today. There were a few different hikers with dogs on leash that we came across and Benny and Oliver both did a good job of listening rather than going over and disturbing them. When another excited dog came up to the rest of the pack at a different time, Sputnik stayed calm and friendly while Roger Roger and Rucksack were eager to say hello.

Adventure Pack
Temperatures were a lot warmer than last week but a stiff wind made it feel just as cold out on the trails. We kept on the move to keep warm and Rucksack, Roger Roger, and Mamacita al kept pace well. Benny paused a lot to nibble on bits of packed snow along the path. Milo made a lot of pit stops to leave scent marks, and his tummy was apparently uneasy.

Adventure Pack
Benny was so excited about the snowy weather that he actually spent his off-leash time at the lead of the pack with Milo not far behind him, instead of the two of them taking up the rear together as they usually do. When Rucksack and Roger Roger had their turn, Roger Roger was being very pushy about his desire to wrestle and kept gnawing on Rucksack's hind legs. Rucksack started coming to my side for protection from his relentless little sibling and Rog...

Adventure Pack
Cancelled due to extremely cold weather.
Play Pack
It was just barely warm enough to take the pack out for the afternoon. Sadie ran with Sputnik and Ruffers, although they kept ganging up on her so I stepped in frequently to remind them not to be pushy and to invite play instead of forcing it. After a few interruptions, Sputnik started to turn his attention to Ruffers instead so Sadie got a bit of a break. A very exc...

Adventure Pack
Benny and Rucksack ran up and down the trail together, with Rucksack hopping and bowing around his packmate to keep him going. Roger Roger was full of energy and unleashed it on his brother, who was happy to run with him. Roger Roger kept trying to gnaw on his hind legs, however, which Rucksack didn't appreciate. Roger Roger didn't take his brother's protests very seriously but he eased up when I told him to. Sputnik and Roger Roger had a co...

Adventure Pack
Roger Roger and Rucksack were both interested in pine cones on today's hike. They didn't just carry them - they had fun picking them up and tossing them in the air. Meanwhile, Mamacita was itching to go for a run and kept rearing back and playfully lunging forward to try to convince me and the pack to join her. Milo and Benny kept pace without falling behind to explore today.

Adventure Pack
Roger Roger's stomach was bothering him this morning and he ate some grass and vomited it up when we were on our way up the mountain. Hopefully he got up what was bothering him along with the grass; I didn't see him eat more grass after that. Milo and Benny took their time sniffing along the trail, with Milo lagging the furthest behind. When he did catch up, Milo sidled up to Rucksack for a while, and the two of them hiked along almost leaning aga...
