Osito and Milo made sure we took a moderate pace on the trails today.  When Osito discovered a muddy puddle in the shade at a bend in the trail, he had a good splash in it.  Rucksack was undeterred by his more sluggish packmates and kept wandering the trails and doubling back when I called him.  Osito and Milo both had a better pace on our way back down.  Rucksack, meanwhile, was hauling good-sized stick down the mountain.  Osito is totally...

Benny and Rucksack met a couple friendly Labs on the trails today and everyone lingered for a thorough meet-and-greet.  Rucksack brought a small stick up the mountain and came back down with a much bigger one.  During the brief stretches when Rucksack was stickless, he explored in the brush alongside the trail with Benny in tow.

Benny and Oliver took their time as we made our way up the Saddle Rock during their turn off the leash.  They hung behind, sniffing out stories and then hurrying to catch up in between.  On the way down, Rucksack and Sputnik played with each other.  Today, it was Sputnik who found a stick, which was soon stolen away by Rucksack.  A chase ensued.

Milo joined Sage and Rucksack on today's hike and enjoyed the creek alongside the trail, even though it was running low today.  Rucksack was less obsessed with Sage than he has been in recent weeks.  I think Sage appreciated not having him hover over her the whole time out, although she handled it very well when he had been doing that in past days.

Sputnik and Rucksack ran and ran on the trails today.  At first, Sputnik was chasing Rucksack for a stick.  Later on, Rucksack was the one chasing Sputnik and trying to keep up with his young packmate.  Benny ran alongside Sputnik a little bit, too, though he was mostly interested in exploring off the trails in a more leisurely manner.

Osito has enjoyed being off the leash on the trails.  He's even gotten used to drinking out of the Camelbak spout, no longer dodging away from it when I offer him a drink.  He wandered a bit ahead at one point today, obscured by the foliage at a windy spot in the trail - but he came running back when I stopped with his packmates and called him.  Benny nibbled on some greenery alongside the trail.  Wesley trotted along with me and his packmates, ...

Rucksack splashed around in the creek on our way up the mountain.  Benny and Wesley both got their paws wet on their way up, too - though they didn't splash through the water like their packmate.  Rucksack brought down a small chunk of wood on our way back and when we reached the bottom Wesley took a long break in the creek right by the Gregory Canyon trailhead.

Sputnik and Benny roamed the trails off leash together at the beginning of today's hike and then Rucksack and Oliver took their turn on the way back.  Everyone stuck together and the pups were all very friendly with the hikers we passed (both human and dog).
