Adventure Pack

We tried out the Saddle Rock trail today.  There's a big stream that runs along the lower half of the trail, and the pack was eager to get their paws wet.  We took short breaks on the way up and then a longer one to let everyone splash around when we got back down the mountain.  We came across a few friendly dogs who wanted to say hello and the pack greeted them nicely.  Sputnik just sniffed and Roger Roger didn't jump all over his packmates wit...

Adventure Pack

Milo and Benny followed at a distance behind me, Mamacita, and Sputnik on the trails today.  Benny wasn't far behind but Milo lingered along the stream we passed on our way up the Ski Jump trail, a little ways down the hill from the trail itself.  As we headed down the trail during the last stretch, a dog who was heading up the trail took notice of the pack and crouched down.  I watched Sputnik closely because he's been reactive to those situations, ...

Adventure Pack

Oliver was the most eager to have a drink from the Camelbak today as I've ever seen.  Sputnik stayed calm even when approached by excited dogs on the trail today.  Benny, Rucksack, and Roger Roger all walked along with me very nicely throughout the hike.

Sadie and Ruffers started off our park visit with a little chase, with Sadie in the lead and Ruffers in pursuit.  As our visit went on, Mamacita and Sadie pla...

Adventure Pack

It was another hot day today and when we took a brief break in the shade Mamacita dug a little patch of dirt to lie in and cool down.  Rucksack and Thompson opted to wander over to a nearby stream and get their paws wet.  On the way back down, Milo took his turn in another stream we passed.  Roger Roger stuck with me for the hike and didn't have enough energy to harass his packmates.

Adventure Pack

Oliver was eager to have a drink from the Camelbak spout today everytime we took a water break.  He's usually not that interested, but I'm not surprised considering how hot it was today.  Benny, Sputnik, Rucksack, and Roger Roger were all happy as ever to get a drink.  Sputnik again growled at one passing dog today after the dog already went by and was about 10 feet ahead of us, but he did it with an unusual, groaining tone that I haven't heard befor...

Adventure Pack

Mamacita drank water from the spout today without much fuss.  Benny was glad to get off the leash today so he could walk outside of Roger Roger's ear-nibbling range.  Milo was in the mood to mark the trail repeatedly again today.  Rucksack met a couple who said they had a Labradoodle who looked just like him at home.  Rucksack immediately recognized their soft spot for him and walked up and leaned against them, which they found very endearing.

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger contained himself for most of the hike but eventually he just couldn't help nibbling on Benny's ear.  Benny responded by leaning into his puppy packmate and opening his mouth wide to try to chew on his entire face, but Roger Roger managed to mostly avoid his gaping maw.  Sputnik growled at a dog who passed by us early on in the hike.  Instead of joining in and barking as he has done in the past, Oliver stepped back to stay out of it, whic...

Adventure Pack

Thompson was impatient on the trails today and just wanted to get ahead of the pack.  Meanwhile, Mamacita, Milo, Rucksack, and Roger Roger all stuck close and walked along easily.  On the return leg of our trip, the pack all started looking around anxiously and sniffing at the air.  There must have been some interesting wildlife nearby, but I couldn't detect them.

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger started off the hike harassing Benny, who seemed to enjoy the attention.  Later on, Roger Roger found a stick he liked and then Sputnik grabbed an end and they played tug-of-war for a little while before I told Sputnik to leave it to his packmate who found it so we could get moving again.  Oliver took up position behind me for much of the hike today.  When we stopped to take a break in a grassy area toward the end of our outing, Sputnik a...

Adventure Pack

Milo enjoyed following the streams we passed on the trails today.  Once he started exploring, it was difficult to get his attention to move on.  Benny explored with him early on in the hike but was much more responsive when I called him back to the group.  Later on, Rucksack joined Milo and the two of them got their paws muddy together.  Meanwhile, Roger Roger did a good job of showing self-restraint by not jumping on the friendly people who sto...
