Oliver did his best to avoid getting into the stream as we crossed, but he slipped and got wet anyway.  Though he didn't want to take a dip, he was just as happy as Benny, Milo, and Sputnik to take drinks from the CamelBak along the way today.

Benny actually tried to avoid getting in the water this morning as we crossed the stream, though there was no way but through since the stepping stones were too sparse for him to navigate.  Mamacita and Sputnik tread through the water without hesitation.  Milo was eager to get in and stay in, and took some nudging to follow the rest of the pack out of the water to continue on our hike.

Benny and Milo took their time moseying along the trail today while Sputnik and Mamacita were frequently drawn off the side of the trail by their noses.  As with this whole, hot week, the pack took a nice, long break at the stream to cool off.  There were a group of kids on a field trip there and Benny started to nose at one of their lunchbags as we passed by, causing giggles from the kids.  The rest of the pack minded their manners and kept their no...

It was another hot day on the trail broken up by stops at the stream through Gregory Canyon.  Sputnik, Milo, and Benny all waded through the stream to get a good soak, while little Oliver just had a drink and then hopped along the rocks to cross without getting wet.

Isaac joined Mamacita, Milo, and Sputnik for our hike this morning and really enjoyed getting wet in the creek alongside his packmates.  We encountered several dogs and had friendly greetings and passings with them all.

Sputnik got riled up about a dog that passed the car just after we parked, but once we were on the trails he stayed calm and friendly for about half a dozen greetings with passing dogs.  Benny and Oliver were the most interested in stopping and sniffing the dogs we passed, while Sputnik and Milo stood and waited to move along.

The rain-dampened dirt always seems to be especially interesting to the pack's olfactory sensibilities.  Sputnik, Mamacita, Benny, and Milo all spent much of the hike with their noses to the ground today.

Though Milo, Mamacita, Benny, and Sputnik all lingered in the stream for a while today, we made it farther along the trail than the past couple days and reached a point further up where the stream bumps up to it again.  Needless to say, everyone got their paws wet again at that point before turning and making our way back.

We took it slow on the trails again this morning.  Benny and Oliver kept stopping in shady spots at the outset, unconvinced by my assurances that it would be better to keep going so we could get to the creek sooner.  Once we reached it, everyone waded lazily through the water for a while before heading a short way up the Saddle Rock Trail and then turning around to make our way back.

Mamacita, Milo, and Sputnik took it easy on the trails this morning.  We lingered in the shade and at many spots that caught the pack's noses.  When we reached the stream, everyone was content to hang out in the water for a long while before moving on.  And on our way back, everyone walked along at a very casual pace.  The heat has really impacted the pack's energy level this week.
