Adventure Pack

We came across a little girl on the trails who asked if she could pet the dogs.  Rucksack was happy to oblige and walked up to her to receive the attention.  Meanwhile, Roger Roger and Sputnik started wrestling around with each other, but settled down much more easily than they have in the past.  Benny and Oliver followed the rest of the pack from behind as they sniffed around and lingered in shady spots during their time off-leash together.

It was another hot day out so we made a pit stop at the stream by the Gregory Canyon trailhead for the pack to get wet.  Thompson and Milo would have been happy to linger there as long as they could, but we got moving again after the pack soaked themselves for a few minutes.  Roger Roger was in a modd to harass his big brother Rucksack on the trails today and kept chewing on his ear and the scruff of his neck.  Mamacita trucked along a step behind me...

Roger Roger wrestled around a bit with Benny at the start of the hike again today.  Sputnik joined in, too, and then I had to interrupt because they were starting to become a tangled mess.  Oliver and Rucksack both stayed out of the fray.  As we walked, Roger Roger continued to nibble at Benny's ear on and off for a little while.

It was a great day for a hike, cool and cloudy when we set out this morning.  Along the way, Rucksack, Milo, and Roger Roger's noses all seemed to be on the same page as the three of them would bolt straight to the same spots in unison in order to investigate various smells of interest.  Mamacita and Benny were less concerned with tracing scents and hiked along leisurely at my side.

A Westie came up from behind us on the trails today and followed behind Oliver, sniffing at his rear end.  I realized we had a visitor when Oliver stopped in place to greet the inquiring pup and Sputnik started looking back over his shoulder.  Oliver, Rucksack, and Roger Roger all returned the gesture and gave the pup a thorough sniff before he passed on by us with his human.  Benny and Sputnik sniffed at the air around the Westie from a distance wit...

It was a hot and humid hike today.  Milo, Mamacita, and Thompson trucked along.  Thompson was understandably the most eager to have his turn during water breaks.  Roger Roger and Rucksack both spotted a stick along the trail at the same time and dove for it simultaneously.  Roger Roger got a bigger chunk in his mouth and Rucksack let him take it.  Roger Roger carried it for a while before eventually dropping it.  Rucksack wasn't paying...

Roger Roger started off the hike in a playful mood, gnawing on Benny's ears. Benny enjoyed the attention and responded by pawing and mouthing at his puppy packmate. It was a beautiful day for hiking today!  Milo was in a wandering mood and went well off the trail to investigate smells that caught his interest.  Benny joined Milo but was more responsive when I called them back than was his elder packmate, who was on his own schedule and apparently had some important things to attend to.  Meanwhile, Mamacita, Roger Roger, and Rucksack walked at my side.

We came across a couple who wanted to say hello to the dogs on the trails today.  The woman was especially interested in seeing Benny, who was happy to have the attention.  Roger Roger got restless and tried to jump on the man with his muddy paws but the man took a quick step back to dodge him.  Later on, we passed a man who was carrying a camera tripod and Mamacita barked when she saw him approaching.  I was able to get her to settle down and w...
