Adventure Pack

Mamacita did a somersault when she smelled something interesting at the side of the trail and tried to shoulder down into it. The spot that interested her was on a bit of a decline, so when she went for it she ended up doing a forward flip before wriggling aound on her back. This caught the attentions of Coco and Sputnik, who both thoroughly sniffed out the area as well.

Rucksack and Coco had fun running up and down the trail together in the snow this morning.  Mamacita and Sputnik were both feeling playful, too, and made some moves whenever their packmates came by close to us.  Rucksack eventually found a good stick to haul.  Sputnik gave him a tug-of-war over it at one point, but Rucksack eventually came away maintaining posession of it.

Monarch chomped on snow throughout our hike this morning, scooping up a mouthful every few paces.  Whenever we took a potty break, everyone's playful sides came out as they started play bowing and hopping around one another.  Sputnik and Monarch kicked it off the first time and then I settled them down so we could keep hiking without getting leashes tangled up.  A little while later, Sputnik and Monarch went for it again and were soon joined by Coco,...

The trail was full of hikers, both human and canine, today.  Everyone must have been trying to make the most of the last bit of warm weather while it lasted.  The pack was greeted by several other dogs and everyone was friendly.  Thompson and Coco were the forward greeters, while Sputnik and Mamacita lingered at the far side of me from the dogs who came by to say hello.  Everyone was happy to have some water to cool their panting tongues.  ...

We had another new dog join the pack this morning - Clover!  Clover is a very sweet Golden Retriever who is the sister (by adoption) of our other new pack member, Monarch.  Clover hopped right up into the car when we set out this morning, which encouraged Monarch to do the same, so nobody required any coaxing.  On the trail, Clover was on her own agenda at first, though that was also true of Sputnik, Coco, and Monarch.  Clover, Monarch, and Sput...
