Adventure Pack
Sputnik had a solo hike up the Red Rocks trails this morning. We didn't encounter many other dogs today; we only saw a couple ahead of us who were walking in the same direction, so we never crossed paths. Sputnik enjoyed sniffing around and taking a dip in the stream. We relaxed at the mountaintop for a a little while as I had Sputnik lie down and roll over onto his back to chill out and practice being less guarded.

Thompson and Mamacita walked the Boulder Creek Path this morning. Even though it was cool this morning, Thompson was still eager to get over to the Creek.

Coco and Ruffers had some fun chasing and dodging each other around the grassy back section of the park. Meanwhile, Sanaya chewed on a tennis ball and Isaac played fetch. Mamacita made friends with a Husky mix and made some playful moves with him....

Ruffers, Thompson, Coco, Sanaya, and Mamacita all walked Bear Creek together this afternoon. The water is a bit smelly lately so we stayed out of it. The weather was relatively cool and cloudy for a change, so the pack wasn't dying to get into the water.

Sputnik and Mamacita hit the Red Rocks trails this morning. We passed by a couple other dogs on the trails, one of whom was a rambunctious Husky who was pulling at the leash to try to come over to us, but we gave him a wide berth and passed by calmly. We stopped in the stream at one point and Mamacita was quick to get in, while Sputnik lingered on dry land to sniff around in the bushes for a while before getting his paws wet.

Park regulars B.B. and Lucy joined Sputnik and Ruffers for our morning outing along the Boulder Creek Path. B.B. and Lucy aren't that used to leashed walks and the first 15 minutes or so were pretty rough with pulling, but they eventually settled into a rhythm and were much more manageable. Meanwhile, Sputnik sneered at a couple dogs we passed but didn't take it any further than that. Ruffers trotted along behind me and was the easiest to manage o...

Sputnik was a little less chill about the dogs we encountered this morning, but he didn't act out too dramatically. He growled a little each of two times we passed other dogs a bit closely. He was fine during other passings when I made a point to keep just a little more distance.

Adventure Pack
We had a couple face-to-face (or nose-to-butt) meetings with other dogs on our hike today. Mamacita whined and whimpered with anticipation as one dog approached us. Sputnik stayed calm and sniffed pleasantly. The second dog came by as we were sitting on the mountaintop and Sputnik was lying down in front of me. The young dog came right over and greeted Thompson and Mamacita for a minute after giving Sputnik a passing sniff.

Sputnik stayed calm and collected today even when a young dog - probably about a year and a half old - ran up to us with his guardian calling to him to come back. It was great to see Sputnik handle a potentially threatening situation with grace as he stood in place without any sneers and just sniffed the air. Meanwhile, Ruffers wagged her tail and just wanted to play with the unruly pup.

Mamacita, Sputnik, and Ruffers all enjoyed a good soak in the Creek at the Red Rocks trails this morning. Sputnik wanted to walk next to Ruffers the whole time, since they had just been separated for a day after spending the last two weeks attached at the hip while boarding together.
