Adventure Pack

It was very windy during our hike this morning and a little light hail even fell on on.  There were still some other hikers out, including some with dogs, and the pack was calm and friendly in greeting them.  Sputnik and Milo were the most interested in saying hello, while Benny and Mamacita were a bit more aloof, but still interested in giving a sniff to passing pups.

Milo had his first time off the leash since his second recent wandering, and thankfully he stuck with the pack today!  He and Benny followed behind, lingering to sniff in the brush as Sputnik and Mamacita hiked along at my side on leash.

We passed a couple highly excitable dogs when we first hit the trail this morning.  One of them growled at us as they passed, which got Sputnik riled up and growling back.  Oliver also started barking and Milo even joined in to bark for a moment.  Benny just stopped in place in the hopes that he could go say hello and make friends.  I noticed Sputnik warily eyeing other dogs we passed during the rest of the hike, but he, Oliver, and Milo didn't ...

Adventure Pack

The wind was really blowing today.  Despite it starting off sunny when Thompson, Milo, Sputnik, and Mamacita set out on the trail with me, it ended up snowing in the middle of our hike.  This was despite the 50-degree temperature.  An ominous grey fog started creeping over the mountains as the snow fell, but within 30 minutes it had all cleared up and the snow had stopped.

Passing hikers raised the common question of whether I ever have to carry Oliver during our hike, and I assured them that he does just fine on his own legs.  This was proven again when Oliver was leading the pack on the way back down the trail.  Meanwhile, Benny lingered behind at a slow pace, and he, Milo, and Sputnik were all eager to take a water break while Oliver was too busy exploring to take a rest.

Benny, Milo, and Sputnik explored the Mesa Trail starting at the Chautauqua trailhead this morning.  Milo and Sputnik stayed on the leash with me while Benny brought up the rear and made friends with several humans along the way.

Milo enjoyed some wiggles in the snow today and didn't wander off too far.  Benny followed along behind the pack and greeted people by standing in the middle of the trail and waiting for them to came to him.  Mamacita and Sputnik stayed on the leash and enjoyed sniffing around bushes at the edge of the trail.

Milo, Thompson, Sputnik, and Mamacita enjoyed our hike at Shanahan Ridge this morning.  Mamacita chomped on snow along the way.  Sputnik, and Thompson sniffed out a lot of spots along the sides of the trial.  Milo followed right along, occassionally joining his packmates to sniff points of interest.
